Services

We offer individual counseling for a variety of challenges and issues. We take a relational approach to therapy that makes frequent use of cognitive behavioral therapy, in which we learn to think about and process our problems in a manner that empowers us to grow from them.

-EMDR-
EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a specialized form of therapy that focuses on helping individuals heal from traumatic memories and emotional challenges. It utilizes techniques such as eye movements or other bilateral stimulation to facilitate the reprocessing of distressing experiences.

The primary advantages of EMDR include:

Memory Reprocessing: EMDR allows individuals to revisit painful memories while reducing the emotional distress associated with them. This helps in desensitizing the trauma linked to these memories.

Efficient Healing: EMDR is renowned for its ability to produce positive results relatively quickly, making it an attractive option for those seeking relief.

Emotional Relief: It can lead to a significant reduction in anxiety, fear, and emotional distress associated with traumatic experiences.

Enhanced Coping: EMDR equips individuals with improved coping strategies and mechanisms for managing challenging emotions.

Overall Well-being: Many people report an overall improvement in their emotional well-being and their capacity to move forward in life.

EMDR is a powerful tool for individuals dealing with past trauma, anxiety, and other emotional difficulties. If you're seeking a way to heal and find relief, EMDR may offer the solution you've been looking for.

-MEN’S ISSUES-
Men face a unique set of challenges in today’s society and each man has his own challenges unique to himself. They face tremendous pressure on what masculinity should and should not look like. The expectations and stereotypes are often dismissive of the difficulties that men face. Navigating personal, work, social, family, and relationship issues can leave men feeling as though they are stuck in unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. For many men, this often comes out in anger, depression, shutting down, addiction, and trouble in relationships.

We help men to understand themselves better by learning more about why their behavior patterns have developed and offering a non-judgemental and supportive environment to collaborate on strategies that leave them feeling understood and confident in implementing new techniques to understand and communicate their own needs, which leads to improved self-esteem and control, decreased anger and irritability, improved relationships, and overall improved health.

-TRAUMA-
Trauma and be explained as an invisible force that shapes our lives and impacts how we view and interact with the world. It is a form of a psychic wound that shows up later on in life. Everyone experiences some form of psychological trauma in life and this is often experienced in childhood. Trauma limits our ability to learn and grow. It prevents us from reaching our true individual potential.

Trauma therapy allows for a safe environment to explore the past events that have impacted us and learn to process them in a new way that results in a decrease in the emotional reaction and attachment to them. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps us to understand and view our traumas differently, which allows us to reprocess and mourn the trauma while processing the grief in a healthy way. Everyone processes trauma in a different way. Trauma therapy is not a one-size fits all approach. We are able to adjust to the needs of our individual clients and provide them with the Trauma-Informed Therapy that they need to live successful and healthy lives.

-ANXIETY-
Our bodies come prepacked with a “flight or fight” response that was designed to keep us safe in the face of danger. However, our dangers and threats have changed over time and this warning system can often become confusing and overwhelming. We help you to understand how this system functions and how it is actually trying to help you. You will learn tools and strategies that will help you learn to accept and use anxiety, rather than feeling the need to escape from it. This often leads to feeling lower levels of anxiety and an increased sense of self-control and accomplishment.

-DEPRESSION-
Everyone has felt sadness at times. However, not everyone has experienced depression and how hopeless and devastating it can be. It not only impacts our mood, it impacts our overall ability to function. It comes with a deep emotional pain for those who is experience it and also for those who care for them. There are many factors that can lead to depression and this is unique for anyone who experiences it.

There are many types of talk therapy that can treat depression ranging from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (focus on changing unwanted or unhealthy ways of thinking), Interpersonal Therapy (focus on improving problematic interpersonal relationships and circumstances related to your mood), or Problem-Solving Therapy (focus on learning skills that allow you to take charge of the problems and situations in your life that contribute to depression).
